Earlier this fall I went on a boat tour of the Hackensack River through R.E. I. (Recreational Equipment Incorporated) where I now work part-time. R.E.I. as a company donates money annually to local non-profits, and the Hackensack River Keepers is one of the organizations are store donates to. As a new employee I went on this service trip to get a better idea of what our money goes towards. Captain Bill Sheehan, the Hackensack River Keeper himself, directed our boat tour and I learned a great deal. The organization does a lot to keep the river pristine by both preventing new problems and remediating old ones. The day of the boat tour was beautiful & we even got to see a bald eagle *second picture*.
