the frozen awosting falls (before)

how incredible!

& after

This Saturday morning i woke up bright & early (5:30 am) to drive up to minnewaska state park in ny with a friend from work to see the frozen awosting falls. once temperatures are consistently below a certain temperature the falls begin to freeze. it is incredibly beautiful to see. we got VERY lucky with our timing in going to visit the falls because the majority of the waterfall was frozen & then right as we were about to leave the whole thing collapsed! i really believe it was a once in a lifetime majestic moment of nature i got to experience & it amazes me how life falls into place like this. you can see the before & after pictures above, plus more photos from minnewaska state park. i can't wait to go up here again, there is so much more to explore.

hikes with meka

i love hiking & this little puppy :)

the dream of a tiny home

i'm in love with this window! what a wonderful place to fall asleep with a perfect view of the sky.

fireplace is in both the living ares & master bedroom swoon + the pegged structure to the left of the fireplace is a ladder! how fun :)

when i first discovered the concept of a tiny home i fell in love & i have been dreaming ever since. the two homes in the pictures above are currently my favorites...the first home pictured can be found here & there second here. i want to have a a good size piece of land (ideally between 50 & 200 acres) with animals, a garden that can feed a family, maple trees, a water source, and who knows what else eventually :). this dream comes from the desire to want to live minimally, self-sufficiently, be in nature, and have a peaceful lifestyle (according to me, i know not everyone shares these mentalities). i have already began to research & plan for these dreams & i hope to one day blog about them becoming a reality.
what is your dream home/future scenario?

meka's first hike

this was meka's first hike & she really loved it!  which is a relief because one of the major benefits for me of having a dog is that i now have a hiking companion who is always willing & able to go with me :) being a girl it is kind of scary to venture deep into the woods by yourself, but if you have a dog all those worries fade away. meka doesn't look like much now, but she will reach about 15 pounds, she is smart, & already very loyal...i know she'll have my back if i ever need her...i mean just look at her in this last picture: watchdog status :)
