Maine - Acadia National Park - Afternoon Tea & Popovers at Jordan Pond

Jordan Pond is located in Acadia National Park along Park Loop Road & date's back to the late 1800's. During this era tea houses were developed to cater to the growing number of sophisticated summer visitors. The original building burnt down, but the new one made it a goal to keep much of the same characteristics & charm intact.

Our Mission….
"As a local company, we at the Acadia Corporation are committed
to using local & sustainable products whenever possible. We have
sought out distributors, farmers, and fisherman who value this
commitment in their practices. This shared focus has allowed us to
offer items of which we are proud both for their method of
production or acquisition and their superior quality & flavor. In
2010 we transitioned to using only Maine dairy products, from the
cream in our ice cream to the milk in our popovers. At that time we
chose also to acquire the 200,000+ eggs needed per season from
Maine farmers, who keep cage-free hens. As the growing season
allows, we use local produce including greens, tomatoes, potatoes,
and apples. Fishing practices are of particular importance, and in this
regard we acquire only local crab, scallops, & lobster. For our fish
entrees, we work with port cylde fishery, a company committed to
sustainable seafood practices. We have designed our menu to give you
the pleasure of sampling some of our favorite local items, from
cheeses, wild blueberries, and Maine lobster, to microbrews. As we
work towards a sustainable future we will continue to carefully
source our menu with items that will ensure that future generations
will share in what you are enjoying today."
*This makes me love this place even more :)

Such a lovely place to visit & experience a classic afternoon tea equip with breathtaking views of Jordan Pond & the Acadia Mountains in the distance. We showed up on a whim & added our names to the waiting list, then walked around the grounds while we waited for our table notifier to buzz.

Gift Shop located across from the restaurant filled with Maine goodies, gifts, & souvenirs.

There was this beautiful pergola at the entrance of the restaurant that had this incredible tree growing up & over the whole thing...I'd love to have something like this in a garden one day.

Inside seating.

It was a perfect day out so we opted to sit outside. We got one of the best seats too, without a reservation, located on the edge looking out at the views with no tables obstructing our view...it was very exciting.

The famous Popovers, yummm p.s. the strawberry jam is made fresh locally by the Amish, it was delicious.

Lunch & Tea Menu here.

This was a perfect addition to our day. I love the tea house concept & think there should be more all over the place, it's a great way to unwind, relax, & converse.
