"If the bee disappears off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left."
Albert Einstein

Here is a list of what bees pollinate from The Natural Resource Defense Council & what we would be without if they disappeared...

Did You Know? Fun Facts About Honey Bees

The honey bee has been around for millions of years.

A colony of bees consists of 20,000-60,000 honeybees & one queen.

Worker honey bees are female, live for about 6 weeks & do all the work.

Honey bees communicate with one another by "dancing".

It is estimated that 1,100 honey bee stings are required to be fatal.

It is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.

The average worker bee produces about 1/12th teaspoon of honey in her lifetime.

The honey bee's wings stroke incredibly fast, about 200 beats per second, thus making their famous, distinctive buzz.

A hive of bees will fly 90,000 miles, the equivalent of three orbits around the earth to collect 1 kg of honey.

It takes one ounce of honey to fuel a bee's flight around the world.

Honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water; & it's the only food that contains "pinocembrin", an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning.

I get take action emails all the time for all different things including our food system, environmental & animal protection, human rights ect...

These take action letters take about 30 seconds to fill out (online) & they can make very positive impacts on issues you care about, but don't always know how you can get involved.

Here are two ways you can take action for the bees:
Tell the EPA: Take Action to Save the Honey Bees
Urge the Department of Agriculture to Act Now to Save the Bees
