new york - new paltz & brotherhood winery

New Paltz

We ate lunch at Bacchus a restaurant & bar in the center of town that had a really cool eclectic vibe.

We each got flights filled with beer & cider to go along with our food. I really love when places have this option because I always want to try more than just one thing. It was especially helpful here too because Bacchus has hundreds of drink options.

I got their goat cheese quesadilla which is stuffed with portabella mushrooms, spinach, & red peppers & comes with rice & salsa. It was delicious.

Some of the eclectic decor inside the restaurant.

New Paltz has so many cool shops & businesses lining the streets at the heart of town. I wanted to explore it all, but feel like I only skimmed the surface. I look forward to going back one day with Jon & seeing everything. I know we would both love this organic cafe pictured above.

Fell in love with this little alley way of shops, it's was so quaint & charming...plus it reminded me of diagon alley :)

I would love to sit down here on a nicer weather day & play chess while enjoying a dohnut from the place below.

I was too stuffed from lunch to get a Dohnut on this visit, but I am definitely going to leave room for next time. They all looked so good! The dohnuts are made from scratch daily & the selection changes as well...some of them are quite unique like the dohnut with a sriracha glaze :0 Plus the dohnuts are cooked in a non-gmo oil.

Brotherhood Winery
We stopped here on the way home. It is America's oldest winery, established in 1839.

The tasting room.
We arrived too late to do the tour, but the tasting was lovely. For $7 you got to choose between three different flights, each of which included about seven samples, plus you got to keep the glass.

I choose the sweetest flight because sweet wines our my favorite. They were all delicious, which made deciding which ones to buy at the end quite difficult. *The ones that won out are pictured below.

There is also a cafe at the winery that does a cheese & wine happy hour as well as dinner. We didn't eat here because we were still stuffed from earlier, but I would love to one day.

Purchases of the day...

This John Lennon People for Peace Print.

Carroll's Mead, a honey wine from Brotherhood, soo good.
+
True Companion Hard Apple Cider with Ginger, this was also from Brotherhood but they just bottle it & it is brewed elsewhere. Ciders are my favorite & this is one I've never seen before so I couldn't pass it up...plus I loved the bottle :)
*Another wine I almost got before I saw the cider was Brotherhoods May wine which has fresh flowers & strawberries.

My record collection has officially been started & I am very excited about it :)
I got these at Jack's Rhythms in New Paltz.
