drink - turmeric & ginger elixir


A perfect morning boost, especially helpful when feeling under the weather.

Ingredients 
*all organic - makes about 4 cups 

2.5 cups coconut water
turmeric root - about the size of a bulb of garlic
ginger root - about the size of a bulb or garlic
1 lemon, peeled
2 green apples
1 celery stalk

Directions 

One at a time place each ingredient into the juicer, we use this one here.
We strain our juice through a strainer like this, but you can leave it as is.
Pour into glasses, serve & enjoy!

homemade english muffins


A few months ago Jon & I purchased Tartine Bread because we wanted to be able to make our own bread products.  This book has not disappointed & it has been so fun (as well as challenging) to try new recipes. English muffins have been our most challenging undertaking so far, but the reward was well worth the effort - they were so delicious & like no English muffin we've ever had before! Tartine Bread comes from Chad Robertson who is considered by many the best bread baker in the US & also co-owner of Tartine Bakery in San Francisco. The pictures below are from when Jon & I went to the spring flea earlier this year. It was so much fun! We loved seeing all the amazing vendors & being able to support such a locally driven economy. Although we're in Vermont now we wish we could go to the upcoming flea & if you're in the Denver area I wouldn't miss it.
